Hi Folks,
Here are some pics of a 'floating top' coffee table with lots of curved bits which is my first real piece of furniture for our house.
The base is New Guinea Rosewood and the top is Silky Oak. I finished the base with an oil/varnish mix then Ubeaut wax. The top is finished with wipe on poly to give it a harder wearing surface. Finished size is 1m x 550mm.
NG Rosewood is a beautiful timber to work and looks great. The Skily top was made from a very ordinary board that had some checking on the underside that I filled with epoxy.
Joinery for the base is all loose tenons and screws in slotted holes to hold the top. I pinched a good deal of the design from Wongo - thanks Scott.
Its been a great learning experience to build - I hope you like it.
Cheers,
Geoff
