Think your idea for natural treatments are a bit of a pipe dream.

I use Feast and Watson Fungishield. As the name suggests, it prevents fungal infection. Since fungus is the usual cause of decay I would go that track.

the only thing i had around the house i thought would work is vinega and so far not 1 change in colour nore any sign of insects. im still barking and under that there is a slight dark change i notice its damp to so im trying to get it off faster otherwise its going ace pics of progress soon

off the bottom of this piece i cut 2 slabs just finished 1 with 400 smoooth lol the grain at night with the spot light shines like a pearl amazing!!! pics soon

I love it! This would be good for people who want to feel like they are in the great outdoors even in their home. Gotta be careful about splinters, though!

Why did you take the bark off? I thought it looked really great when you just cut a flat on the top. I also don't know why you're worried about fungal growth. If you keep it in a dry environment it should be fine.
