I am trying to find out information on how to scroll portraits.

From creating the black and white image to finishing the portrait.

I can't seem to find any information on how it's done.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Simon

Hi Simon

A book called "Scroll Saw Portraits" by Gary Browning has a section on creating your own portraits (along with 55 patterns - American) - details at www.scrollsawer.com (http://www.scrollsawer.com) or you can find some details of how to use Photoshop Elements at a site I found by searching "scroll saw portraits" (it's a ninemsn bulletin board) under tips/techniques.
Good luck with your designing.http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/images/icons/icon7.gif

Hi Simon,

Check out this link: http://www.angelfire.com/md2/creativewood/Secretpage.htm

it is on the website of Gary Browning (the author of the book Tiki refered you to)

The info is pretty general. Your best bet will be to get advise from someone using the same software program that you are.

There are some free patterns on the linked site as well.

I hope that this is of help to you.

I have created a few portraits myself.

Do you have a graphics package yet?

I'll just be using Microsoft Photo Editor for now.

If you want any ready made patterns for doing portraits send me an e-mail and I will assist you, I have done quite a few now with good results.

There are numerous programs. I find photoshop elements good but I mainly use photo editor and just play around and add a few lines and erase others until i get what I want. i have a copy of scroll saw portraits. it is very basic in the info it gives about making patterns but the free patterns are good.
