My BIL sold his 6ft swing Wadkin for not much more than scrap without telling me...

It was in good nick too, like all the gear in his pattern making business.

However, the transport costs Sydney to Adelaide would have been a killer.

You still talking to him?

Yeah, but it would have been nice to have had first right of refusal...:D

The business being a partnership with another chap sort of complicated things.

I had one just like that until five years ago when I closed my business, sold it to a bloke in Victoria I sure hope that is not it, at the time I had to import it from the UK there was nothing like it available here. I agree in that condition it is not going to get $5000. There should be a law against cruelty to lathes.

This might be a silly question but can someone tell me what the difference is between a "pattern makers" lathe and say a Vicmac or Stubby ?

This might be a silly question but can someone tell me what the difference is between a "pattern makers" lathe and say a Vicmac or Stubby ?Generally heavier, or they used to be so as not to have any vibration as pattern makers generally scrape.

Not as high revving either.

Was going to say that they were better made but that would be unfair.:whistling2: :kickcan::D
