I reckon this comes close to the ideal way of selling your gear. Well presented, clear pics and in good condition.

TOOLTEC HEAVY DUTY 5 SPEED WOOD LATHE + 6 CHISELS - eBay, Turning, Woodcrafts, Crafts. (end time 26-Jul-10 12:02:21 AEST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TOOLTEC-HEAVY-DUTY-5-SPEED-WOOD-LATHE-6-CHISELS-/250667299856?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Woodcrafts&hash=item3a5cef7410)

Especially when I look at the one rusting away in a field with a price tag of 5000

Must think we are all mugs!

I'm not familiar with that brand here in the U.S.
It does not appear to be heavy duty from the pictures. There is a lot of stamped metal and the bed is tubular. The variable speeds are belt change, not high tech.
I know I'm being critical but that is my impression. For about $2500.00 USD it seems very high priced.
Is this a popular tool brand?

It wasn't so much about the lathe, rather a comment of some of the very poor efforts of some folk when they try and sell on eBay.
I though it was darn good presentation, not much to ask and well displayed, plus the lathe had been cleaned up to look good.

If you want to sell you have to evoke the emotions, all selling is based on emotion....

'' I bought it cos I liked it.'' :U

'' I bought it cos I liked it.'' :UAgreed! :2tsup: - far better chance of selling something at a decent price if it looks like it has been cared for - even if it hasn't :o

I just wish they'd say where they are in the initial description - it would stop my heart beating faster only to find it's 2000kms away:D

You are right, I'm wrong, I put a extra zero before the decimal point.
$485 AU would work out to about $250.00 USD right now, I believe.
It's roughly 2:1
At that price it should make a very excellent entry level lathe.
