i was giving away heaps of mackay cedar to all the aussie members earlier this year and i got a couple of request from across the pond in the US so we decided to agree to a swap a win win for all :D
finally decided to turn up a special piece i got from BITSHIRD its honduras rosewood burl absolute stunning blank
anyway i decided to turn it into a JR kit i got from carbatec awhile ago drilled the holes glued them milled the ends then went to put bushes into the tubes

THEY DIDNT BL#@*Y FIT :((:((:((

when i got the kit i also got the correct bushes to suit so there should have been no problem but ......
i was really upset in possibly ruining the timber so i gave dave from S/E QLD WOODWORKING SUPPLIES as he was coming up soon to get me another set of bushes THAT FIT
he arrived and i checked them against the tubes THEY DIDN'T FIT EITHER :((:((
he asked to see the parts for the pen and he noticed that the tip end is the same as a baron he gave me a set to see if they fitted and YES :2tsup:

finally got to turn this amazing wood just thought i would share this epic tale on how i managed to finally turn the pen

thanks for looking

Troy you did a beautiful job on that timber, I'm trying to get some shop time to turn some more of the Mackay Cedar and some of the other beautiful wood you sent my way, I believe wht you have there is the old type 1 Jr.Gent. Rizhinge is putting them out now, but the bushings for them are just now coming around, fortunatly the Baron/Navigator bushes will do in a pinch. You certainly did that piece of wood beautifully, I'm glad you liked it.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

Troy
great pen - absolutely fantastic piece of timber - you've done good
even after the tribulations concerning the bushes

re photographic backgrounds
you probably could use a light tent as per here (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/photographing-your-masterpiece-64791/index5.html#post957899) at post 62 for my version of a light tent
for the curved piece of paper idea for a seemless background similar to here (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/photographing-your-masterpiece-64791/index3.html) at post 36 for a piccy of a light tent with background

or google photographing pens
