finally got the chance to use my 076 which i have had for quite a while now , i was cutting some bowl blanks out of an old river red gum down on the river bank and she was cutting like a trooper ( first real chance i have had to put it to work ) any way went good for a few minutes then she let fly the result is in the picture below plus the bits i managed to find in the resulting small grass fire where the bits landed .
why is it so :C:C.
now i need some new bits , i have to get this saw back up and running because i have bought new big bars and chains to suit it from sawchain which have not even seen wood yet .

Dunno about a collection piece that is a brand spanking new 076, 111cc BEAST of a saw for the princely sum of about $1400 delivered to your door. or in other terms nearly as much saw as the new ms880s for half the price. That would blow a few local stihl dealers away if you rocked in with a brand new one!!!:2tsup:

there was an almost brand new one sold here at a clearance sale a few months back and an 08s old fella died he had them under the house , the 076 went for 500 bucks and i was not happy that i never had the dosh at the time .
the 08s was still in the box and had never had fuel in it , the 076 had done maybe an hour or 2 work at the most . the story was he bought the 076 ran it and never liked it to heavy so he stashed it under the house and bought an 08s he liked that so much he bought another for a spare but never used the spare .:o:o

i just bought the clutch assembly from greece :2tsup:, just need the cover and a new drum and nut now , i will need the drum that takes a rim sprocket not the spur type .
i will ring a few places tomorrow see if i can locate a second hand cover , although the saw could be used with the old cover .

yeah sorry i read it the wrong way . and yep dont want to let these old saws fade away , when ever i ring a saw place for a part they normally say those old things bout time you got rid of it and bought a new one , a chainsaw guy said that to me today actually but i happen to like the old heavy ones ( plus i cant afford a new one ).
i have about 15 old saws that i am going to restore when i get around to it but this one is a good runner and my favorite saw at the moment .
