Hi, I am refurbishing some Woodfast lathes and would very much like some pictures of the speed plate and the other decals/badges. The machines I have were at a school and were lucky to escape with some paint intact.

Here are a few shots of the lathes and the points where the decals/speeds were, any help appreciated.

Had the Woodfast below which was of similar vintage, but it had no speed plate on it just the Woodfast badge. Not original colour.

Gooday Groggy.

My MC900 pic3 has no decals but the speeds are: 600, 1100, 1800, and 2700.

The previous owner had them taped on.

There is a model number and year of manufacture stamped in the rear way on the bed at the tailstock end.

If you get those Woodfast could give you the info.

Thanks for the pics so far, great stuff :2tsup:

I figure the more pics the better, this way they become a part of the forums and turn up in searches for others too. I was a bit surprised to only find about three pics in the searches that I did over the last few weeks.

I am also surprised at how many configurations there seems to be. I'm not even sure I have seen the same machine yet, let alone two similar machines with the same configuration!

Neil, thanks for the pics.
, appreciate the speeds mate, ta. I would ideally like a pic of the plate so I can get a few made.
China I'll PM my email address to you shortly.
Tea Lady, if you can get a shot of the Know Woodfast that would be appreciated also, thank you.

Hi Groggy,
If it is anything like the one in this school, it is the noisiest Lathe Imaginable. Mainly because of the door, where the Motor is. Rattles terribly.
There may also be a couple of Micro Switches on it as well.
Just a thought.
Regards,
issatree.

Have pulled apart the tailstock for one of the lathes under repair. Those vandals at the school not only bent the lock/release handle but they also bent the cam shaft inside. Anyway, straightened them both up on a hydraulic press. Work needs to be done on the screw-advance shaft on the tailstock and we've got to figure out how the shaft locks into place. Could someone post a picture of the locking handle fully removed from the tailstock? It would help a lot, thanks.

If not I can take photo's of mine.

I thought there may be some interest in the before and after shots of the refurbishment of these grand old ladies.

This is the first lathe that is nearing completion after a complete refurbishment.

new motor
electronic variable speed
resprayed
overhauled top to toe
bearing replaced with new sealed bearings.
Tailstock refurbished.
Various parts sourced, repaired, re-manufactured or replaced.

It will be for sale when complete.

NOTE: If anyone knows of a tailstock that is available I need one for one of the other lathes.

Groggy,

That is just beautiful! I recently bought a used 1995 short bed 20 inch swing Woodfast.

I will add my voice to the chorus raving about this wonderful lathe.

The photos are within an hour after I got the lathe home from the seller and dragged it into the back yard in pieces. I have since polished all the bare metal and disassembled, cleaned, and greased everything but the spindle, which runs like a silk scarf running through an ivory napkin ring.

A very sweet lathe.<!-- google_ad_section_end --> <fieldset class="fieldset"> <legend>Attached Thumbnails</legend> http://www.woodworkforums.com/attachments/f8/151179d1288134607t-my-bowl-blank-p1010611.jpg (http://www.woodworkforums.com/attachments/f8/151179d1288134607-my-bowl-blank-p1010611.jpg) http://www.woodworkforums.com/attachments/f8/151180d1288134607t-my-bowl-blank-p1010612.jpg (http://www.woodworkforums.com/attachments/f8/151180d1288134607-my-bowl-blank-p1010612.jpg)

The lathe is now complete and for sale. Here are a few pictures of the completed unit. I will be putting a 'for sale' ad in the Market Place for anyone who is interested.

This lathe has all new sealed bearings, new repainted, fully repaired tailstock, new motor, electronic variable speed (note the elevated control box) and accessories.

Click on the pictures to open a larger view. Click on them again for full size.

Note: I have no longer got a financial interest in these lathes as I have on-sold them. Details of the seller will be in the For Sale ad.

Note 2: Still looking for a tailstock for the other lathe!
