Pete , is the timber seasoned bone dry or what ,
other that the water you put on to pop out the grain ?

Hi Jock,
I'd have to confirm exactly how dry but it has been air drying for some time as far as I know, yr plus at a guess.
I put the water on it to make the grain stand out

I know that you put water on it to make the grain stand out , that is why I mentioned it .

Wood takes on average , and remember that it is an average ,
a year per inch of thickness to air dry .

Have you sealed the endgrain yet ?

If it is'nt fully seasoned, definately seal it,particularly as there is alot of end grain in it,as well as the fact that rockhampton would have a fairly low e.m.c at this time of year.:2tsup:

I rough turned a bowl out of a wet blank of the stuff and it had to go into a plakky bag for nearly a year to control cracking.
