What is the best finish for turned items to be glossy.

About 20cm long by 6 cm wide some Myrtle, blackwood and sassafras.

I personally would use a 95% gloss lacquer from a gum.

Be warned though that the finish under it has to flawless. Gloss accentuates any fault.

You have asked one of those questions that has an infinite possibility for replies and opinions.
One of the best bowl finishes I have seen is by a member of my wood turning club. He uses a CA/BLO conbination that is applied in seconds and gives a fabulous finish.
