Hi All
I have been driving Adrian at Trend mad to get the outboard attachment for the cougar lathe:C:C. after a lot of discussion I felt that the 90 degree option with a bed extension to the right hand side and an "around the corner extension to the banjo was a complete waset of time as I was limited to the reach of the banjo extension and they tend to bounce around at full strech ( just like my old MC900 ) I made a free standing tool rest that worked Ok but was still a bit bouncy on roughing out ( my chainsaw cuts tend to be a bit on the rough side ...(( pic 1))
So with the help of one of the guys on the metalwork forum (to make the tool post extension) I have made what I feel is the best avaiable for this lathe
An 18" bed extension is attached to the cast leg ( threaded holes provided ) and a support leg fabricated from 200 X 70 channel iron, 2 1/2" whitworth bolts with half nuts to lock them make the bottom of the leg adjustable with the new banjo and the extension mad from 50mm solid bar in place it is ready to go
and I have some nice big lumps of Camphor to try it out on
Love to hear your comments
