Hi Jock2000,
What happened to where you were. Thought that was a great place. Been there about 2 yrs ago
We are in the same boat, as we are on the shift as well. We will have to wait awhile as they are still building this place of which we will have to share.
Regards,
issatree.

Maybe you were thinking about Mens in Sheds we are Menshed and the building will be built at the Long Gully reserve at a cost of approx $300,000. The tenders have been accepted and the building should start soon.
As well as the shed the Bendigo Model Engineers who will share the shed are working with the local council to build 1.5 Km of model engine railway track

This week we participated at a Men's Health week function, along with Bendigo Society of Model Engineers.
It was a successful night with many men very interested in our display.

Things are starting to happen with the shed. Bulldozers levelled the site on Monday and yesterday when I went past they were constructing the roof on the ground.
Didn't take any photos because the camera batteries have had it, will take some today.
On the way to our fund raising sausage sizzle at the Eaglehawk IGA.

Brought some new batteries for camera, so these are some of the shot of the shed and amenities block. Notice they are building the roof on the ground and will lift it using cranes.

The proposed 1.5 km miniature railway will go to the right of the shed,

Visited the site yesterday and they were adding the roofing iron with the roof on the ground. Thought I'd slip over today and watch them raise the roof but I missed the action, so here are todays photos one week and one day into the build.

G'Day "Jock2000",
What a top facility for the blokes to get together and make things, as "issatree" said; you luck buggers getting such a big shed to play in.
They certainly didn't muck around getting it up either.
Enjoy setting it up.
Cheers, Crowie

Happy new year from the guys in Bendigo, we are thinking of the rest of you all over Australia who are doing it tough this year, whether it be floods in Queensland, fire in South Australia, heat in Western Australia and even snow down there in Tassie.

Hi mate , just seen your pic`s of the new shed and still drooling. When you get it fitted out do you reckon we Daylesford Boys can come up and have a squiz. We should be starting ours in about 6-8 weeks. Questions ! how many sq mtrs is it and how high are the walls, love the idea of the mezzanine area above the offices. Good luck with the rest of the project.

Cheers Col.

You are quite welcome to find your way north the shed is due for completion mid Feb so I'l let everyone know when it happens.
It is a 500sqm shed with 4m walls I don't know if we will be able to use the area above the offices and what load it would carry, knowing OH&S rules we would need railings and special stairs oh for the good old days.

I was wondering how the Charlton and Donald sheds were fairing in the Vic Floods. Think the Charlton shed would be flooded as my son-in laws parents are just around the corner and they have waist deep water throughout the house

Wait to get access to our shed is like watching grass grow. The local council seems to be taking forever to put in the finishing touches. The early Feb date has now blown out to mid march with no dust extractor and we have to pay for installation of machinery.

Pouring the slab for the dust extraction system today, which we will have to install at our expense. We had a good general meeting last night where a nurse from Bendigo community health gave a talk on cancers affecting men.
I have also setup a blog for Mensheds Bendigo http://cjstein.blogspot.com/

That`s great Jock. I have some good news too, we have two sections of our shed up, we will put up the 3rd section when we have the money, not to far away I hope. When we get the whole shed up it will total 382sq/mtrs, I have some pic`s but I have to get SWMBO to show me how to get them on the computer.
Good pic up on the machines, a bloke ring up yesterday to see if we were interested in a trojan 20" blade radial saw with a trenching blade and stand to go with it, of course you know the answer, he also wants to join the shed ,Great pic up all round. Still interested in coming up to see you guy`s when we all settle down a bit.
