Today I noticed in an antique/secondhand/bric-a-brac store in Geelong an old treadle lathe for sale. Free-standing above the titling treadle mechanism, its bed length would have been about 2ft long. Once driven by a flat drive belt (now missing) the 3 jaw metal turning chuck was there as was a tailstock and a woodturning-like tool rest . It's been a while since this baby has seen action but I did move, push, pull prod and poke what I could, it all moves. It had surface rust and needs a good clean up but is essentially complete, minus the cutting tools. An oval makers plate was on the head but, to be honest, I've forgotten the details but it was something like, "J RICHARDSON (or JACOBSON) MAKER.

The price tag was $600 and the store is opposite the Ford automotive museum in Brougham St (near the corner of Gheringhap St). Enter via Brougham. I'm not associated with the lathe, the store or anyone in it in any way whatsoever, just saw it there and thought someone may be interested.

Hope this helps someone.
