Is There Enough Info Here?

As a naive speaker builder (never built any) I am wondering if there is enough info on this page

to build what seem to be a reasonably simple set of speakers. Your input would be appreciated. How many amps would I need to drive them?

There's enough info, but a few traps for the n00b - such as you'd have to be aware that you need to correct the depth of the offset of the mids if you use a different speaker to maintain time alignment.

If it's a first time build you may feel more comfortable getting a kit form speaker from somewhere like http://www.theloudspeakerkit.com/

Looking at that page ABOUT the speakers, that dude's WEBSITE has far too many WORDS in all caps, which always sets off my INTERNAL ALARMS that the AUTHOR may have some STABILITY issues or be a WEE BIT obsessive-compulsive or SOMETHING like that. (cf. http://www.timecube.com/ ). He has a non-english speaking BACKGROUND, tho', so your MILEAGE may VARY.

He also supports valve technology, which certainly makes him stark raving mad in my book!

One amp, anything from 50 to 100 (or more) watts* per channel. You can't have too much power in your amp - more speakers are ruined by over-driving from an underpowered amp than are ever burnt out with too much ooomph from an overpowered amp.

Good luck finding bass drivers from the late 70's, though!

*That's good, clean living, wholesome american watts, not watts as used on a neon-coloured sticker saying "OMGWTFBBQ LOOK AT THIS, 2,237 WATTS PMPO PER CHANNEL!!1!!eleven".

Thanks Master Splinter, that is the sort of info I was after. I just want two speakers for a stereo system and a lot of stuff is multi speaker for TV systems. I will look at that site and see what is what. Those speakers I linked to looked simple to me but as with everything there are pitfalls for the beginner.

Thanks Doug, that link is something else which I mostly don't understand. I wonder if I am starting at the wrong end of this job, maybe I should ask the question of what size amp I need for an average room bearing in mind that I am an old fart who does not need to listen to head banging music. I have an old Yamaha at the moment that most probably puts out 20 watts per channel if all the electrons line up.

20 watts?
If that's 20 real watts, i.e. 20 watts RMS then it will be completely adequate.

20W "peak" or "PMPO" is a shonky term, used by the unscrupulous for grossly overestimating useful output.
