Heres a question for all those who use this brand.

I have been using Noritake Astra double and single dot for awhile. But my bulk source seems to have disappeared. :C Used to buy by the sqm and cut my own discs

I use cloth backed hook and loop on my inertia sanders, from 80grit too as far as I can go.

Just had a look over the Hermes site and there's a wide variety. Whats the favoured type and how fine does it go for the hook and loop stuff.


or better still does anybody have the contact details of and Noritake suppliers in Sydney, preferably bulk ie sqm

#120 grit sheets (BW/RB), brown, stiff backing so good for wide soft timber with wide spaced growth rings; fairly durable

#150 (HC135): adequate but not in the same league as Astra.

Somwhere from an Aus site (sandpaperman?) I sourced Velcro sheets of Norton Adalox (A275) from #400 to 1200. Adequate.

I'm running down my stocks and then will get some exotica from thesandingglove in the US. Anything to cut down the time.

I tried the Astra dot stuff a few years back, and didn't really like it. It just didn't cut very well. Best abrasive I have found thus far for price and longevity is the blue discs from VincesWoodNWonders (http://www.vinceswoodnwonders.com). Don't know if he ships over there or not. He does sell sheet stock, and sells direct. I compared it to the Norton Dry Ice (available from the Sanding Glove) which has ceramic grit, and it lasted the same amount of time, but the Dry Ice cost more than twice as much. I don't know if Vince ships over there or not.

I have found the sandpaperman v.g and reliable. I dont know if there is better than Astra but the product is the bees knees as far as I an concerned. Drillit.
