Wet weekend chisel handles

[Sapling]

Turned some handles for 2 Titan chisels.
Timber is beech I think, came from an early English (close to 100 yrs) spirit level that is never to see service again.
Finish is shellac/u-beaut trad wax.
Have about another six to re-handle but will find some other timbers to use.

Ah, nice work Sapling.

Sweet lines on the handles and they do honour to the socket shafts.

But for that length of shaft, maybe go a bit longer on the wood?

Yep, they're paring chisels so whatever works for you.

Very nice. I like the length, just enough to lightly hold the chisels as you pare away the waste.

In my book, paring needs the best control you can get, so the best handles you can make.

It's hard to judge from the pic, and we don't have a pic of your paw.

Thanks for the feed back. Was limited by the piece of wood for length as it had cracks etc and only 1 useable end but in saying that they fit my chicken paw well.
Not so noticeable in the picture but the back chisel is slightly longer which I will carry through the set.

Is the timber beech or box-wood??

Hi Sapling,
Yes, very nice job. I don't think the Wood is Beech, but possibly Ash.
The Lower Chisel shows the Grain, & this is what I was going on.

The few bits of proper Boxwood I've seen have v. little figure at all.
