Copyright question

Hello,

I'm brand new to scrolling, and have skills in graphic arts that will allow me to create patterns.

I would like to know if there are any copyright issues I need to check into.

For example I would like to do a series of Disney and other cartoon characters, or movie posters etc.

I see patterns being sold of celebrities, is this possible because they are public figures.

Any help is appreciated,

there was some discusion on this. Basically Disney,NFL,NBA is not good to touch the rest (celebs) is a grey area ...some do some dont
