Wowsers. That must've been one glorious lump of wood!
The figure in the first one is stunning! A beautiful piece, your choice of form enhancing the grain... from what I can see, I love it!
The second rather reminds me of a "Blue Willow" patterned dining plate. I think this is because of the internal banding. Was that a deliberate choice? All in all, also stunning.
But the third... Well... the colour contrast just doesn't do it for me. Sorry. Was there a specific reason you went that way, or were you just experimenting?
(Oh... and it'd be nice to also see back/side views of the platters. Y'know, so we can have a chance to find a "real" fault somewhere to placate our pride. :;)

Exotics are fun but with timber like this in the UK, we're blessed with our own beautiful woods, wonderful finish, well done.

They look amazing!
That's exactly what I want to learn to do.

Thank you for all of your kind comments
these platters were made from 1 1/4" boards so there just shy of that thickness now
the 3rd one was a bit boring in the middle so i tried rubbing some black patina wax in to highlight the grain pattern
