Sand Blaster Refurb Update

Hi Guys,
Seeing as its too hot here to do anything in the shed ( even with insulation) I thought I'd post a couple pics of the Sand Blaster I have been working on. You may remember I scored an old Clemco unit that was in disrepair, from work a few weeks ago.
I have been modifying it and repairing bits and pieces and finally painted it yesterday. I used a hammertone colour and the paint job turned out pretty crappy. I'm a newbie spay painter and I couldn't sort the gun out before I finished the job....lol ( I am still investigating the cure.....is there a 'spray painting, section here?)
I fitted a brighter double flouro (2 x 18W) with a diffuser I can replace if it cops too much abuse and I fitted a 'switch box' on the top so I can easily turn the light and vac on and off.
The door was missing so I had to make a new one.
It should do the job.....

Coming along nicely,:2tsup: It can be tricky to get the paint thinned to suit the gun and the air pressure, paint ratio right. Then you have the temperature of the day as where not lucky enough to have spray booths like the pro's.

Looking great.
I think hammertone would have to be about the hardest paint to spray(BTW it does brush pretty well). You want to thin it as little as possible as it needs to applid pretty thick to "hammer tone" of course to thick and it runs. Lots of light coats doesnt work well with hammer tone. Max the paint flow and air out, if it doesnt spray thin is a little.

Thanks guys, Yeah, I only thinned it a little as per instructions on the can. I even added a little to see if it made any difference and it didn't seem to.
I'll post a few more pics as I progress. It might take a while to source some glass beads so it might be a while before I can test the setup, but all the hard work is done. I've even managed to make a space in the shed......( its getting harder these days.)
I got a reducing spigot made from some aluminum tube, bit it is slightly oversized on one end. I had to order a pipe centre from CDCO so I can machine it down 0.5mm so I can hook up the vac as well. All good fun.
