I have removed some carpet and underfelt at work. The underfelt comes off easily if just rubbed with my boot but leaves glue marks where it has been glued down. My boss wants these removed but not sanded off. They are reluctant to come off. In fact they wont come off.

My wife suggested eucalyptus oil and reluctantly she may be right. Not knowing the sort of glue used is not helping.

Any ideas will be welcomed.

Our house had had carpets glued down thirty, forty or more years ago. The stuff had been poured on and was practically impossible to move in a satisfactory (i.e. quick and easy) manner. I tried just about everything but in the end it was hard work with a hand scraper that finally did the job. With the scraper some patches came off dry but most needed hot water and detergent. It was a filthy job and meant I had to sand afterwards anyway. And glue clogs up the sandpaper!
I hope you don't have the same degree of problem I had.
Good luck,
Jim
