His name is TEX. He's not really from Texas. He is from Louisiana but he refuses to be called LOUISE.:D

Mosltly Western Red Cedar, Ebony Eyes and (Streaked/spalted/coloured) Pine for the hairy bits and a bit of Basswood white.
Once again, no carving was involved. All contouring done with abrasives, mostly sanding drums.
To add to the Hairy look I also stroked the wood with a wire wheel.

He makes a good mate for the Indian. Both are just a shade under life size.

And....them ain't legs/arms you see. Its my easel.:p

Do your pieces have a backer on them?

Yes I use a backer for all my Intarsia.
I generally use a 1/4" oak or birch veneer plywood.

Just in passing, I had posted an opinion, (reply) to the earlier posting on Glue and mentioned a bit about backers and how I deal with them ,in part.

If I can be of more help, just holler.
