Been a while since I posted here due to health issues, work and family but something has come up that I'm now heavily involved with and you guys and gals are the people I knew I should and could ask for help.

On August 6th I'm flying over and playing in an over-35's game of gridiron in Brisbane as part of the revival of Gridiron Queensland's Charity Bowl. It's the 25th Anniversary of the first Charity Bowl which I also played in and this year we're bringing it back to raise funds for the Qld Disaster Relief Appeal and our long time charity Spinal Research.

We've had a bunch of merchandise donated by companies associated with the sport of gridiron already including two Super Bowl team helmets we currently have up on ebay. But we are putting together a very special pair of helmets to auction off on game day and we need a display case to house them. The helmets will feature the game and team logos for the game and be signed by all the players involved on the day. We're setting a reserve of $1,000 on it and I think we'll pass that pretty easily.

Ideally we would like the case to be donated just like everything else associated with these two helmets and much of our other fund raising for the charities. I can supply all the dimensions needed for the case and if it weren't so difficult to get it out to Oz from here I'd make it myself.

If you can help us with this I will forever be in your debt. That doesn't mean much really in the grand scheme of things but every dollar we don;t have to spend to raise money means more money going to help people who are in a lot worse shape than the majority of us.

Thanks for your time and assistance.

Hi Expat

Good to hear from you again. :)

this is a pretty darn great idea!

 Wouldn't it be a fitting touch if the case were made from timber from a building or tree touched by the flood (depending on whether it was dry enough, of couse)

cheers
Wendy

Great idea Wendy! Here's hoping an enterprising and philanthropic woodworker out there will step up and help us out.

Oh and thanks for the welcome back.

Friends and family have all been touched by the floods and cyclones back home fortunately with no loss of life. I also have a couple of friends in chairs from spinal injuries and degenerative diseases. One of our twins uses a chair to get around over longer distances but thank goodness her long term prognosis is excellent. Others aren't so lucky.

Thank you so much to Enfield Guy for your assistance! Wow! Needless to say you and your family get passes to the Charity Bowl game August 6th for this generosity.

We will be auctioning the two special game helmets at half time and I can hardly wait to see the case he will produce. I've been told by a couple of people already what they intend to bid on them and with Bevan's and our equipment vendor's assistance every penny from the winning bid will going to our charities!

Thank you, thank you! What a great forum!

ps: Mods/Admin Can I launch a thread somewhere in here off-topic about our Charity Bowl game?
