Cabinet Drawer Slides

Hi Guys
just joined tonight.I'm fixing up my LP (record) cabinet ,witch had a slide out shelf,i now want to put it back in,i no longer have the Cabinet Drawer Slides, that sit under the shelf.

Im not sure what load your previous runners were, but under mount runners aren’t designed for heavy loads like LP records. Some might have different views on the subject and know of heavy duty ones, but I have yet to find them. You can get side mount runners for over 200kg if needed.

Love to see a pic of your cabinet. Anything to do with LP`s I love.

Hi. What you need to look for are called undermount bearing slides. You don't say whether they mount to the cabinet under the drawer, or to the cabinet beside the drawer, but both are available. Here is one that mounts to the cabinet under the drawer :

Blum make a range of undermount runners that mount to the cabinet beside the drawers.

Good Morning Michael

We are shortly to start a full kitchen renovation and, as practice, six months ago I built three drawer units for my workshop using four different types of full extension runners, three of them fit under the drawers and are not visible when the drawer is extended. I am convinced that it is a false economy to go for partial extension runners. My considered view is:

Blum Tandembox. Probably the market leader, metal drawer slides and the runners fit inside the sides, run very smoothly and have great soft close feature. Available in different weight ratings.

Blum Tandem. Fit under the wooden or melamine drawer that you make. Possibly even smoother than the Tandembox and with the same soft close. My favourite.

Hettich Innoteck. Hettich version of the Tandebox. Equally high quality and smoothness, but there is a slight hesitation with the soft close operation.

Hettich Ball Bearing. This is a side mounted runner set, extremely high quality stainless steel construction, very smooth operation but without the soft close option. At only $15.15 per pair this is by far the best value for money. They are available in Oz but I could not find them on the Hettich-Aus website - on their European and USA sites though.

Having said that, I would be happy to use any of these runners in my kitchen.

It might be worth weighing a drawer full of LP's before you chose your runners, as they get very expensive very quickly as the weight ratings increase. Will you really need more than 45 - 50 kgs rating??
