I have been unsuccessfully looking for some largish pieces of aged and worn timber for a photographic background for food photos like this.

A piece of pine I scratched and aged.

Any suggestions around Melbourne or to the east for something like this ?

I am out in Heyfield in Gippsland and have been hoping to find something in a farm clearing sale or the like but no luck so far.

You can beat it with chains as well. I used to work in a factory 'aging' table tops. I had a little booth and a gas torch. I'd burn just enough not to cause depressions or pits, then wire brush. Have you tried the dump?

Sadly I am not allowed to go to the dump or garage sales without a responsible adult accompanying me

Our local dump has a no scavenging rule I have done the hammer and burn stuff but it never looks the same as true age.

Try second hand furniture shops or junk shops. Or salvaged timber yards. Or antique shops (but only if you've got lots of cash!).
