For those of you who prefer to use IE the nw IE9 is now available to download and install free. Apparently this browser is designed for use with Win7 and doesn't perform very well, if at all with Windows XP

Just for the record..
According to Net Applications, Microsoft's share of the browser market currently stands at 56.77 percent, followed by Firefox at 21.74 percent, Google Chrome at 10.93 percent and Safari at 6.36 percent. For Internet Explorer, that represents a decline from the 68.46 percent it held in March 2009.

Not surprised in the decline - don't even remember the last time I opened Internet Explorer. :?

I use IE8 every day. Some web apps only work partly or in a crippled state in other browsers. Unfortunately, two of those are ones I need to use every day. Otherwise I use Chrome.

Still, IE is nowhere near the memory pigs that Chrome and Firefox are. I just prefer to use the other browsers.

Last week i upgraded to win7 from vista.
Using win7 i could not stay logged in to any forum i subscribe to.
Today i downloaded IE9 because i was told it was specifically for win7.

Still can't stay logged and it's a PITA.
I've spent 3/4 of an hour on the phone with the place that did the upgrade and even they couldn't help.
I've logged in and tried to force the cookies to stay by using the Ctrl button and refresh but that doesn't work .

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Yeah same here, mainly stuff for that place that pays the bills, work.

I use Firefox at all other times,

Okay, I've bitten the bullet and IE9 seems so far to be very good! Damn, never I would never hear myself say that and I used to work for Microsoft :)

if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Though I'll have to download it now it's out of beta to test some designs still work. Sigh. Here goes another round of daily security patches.

I've been using IE9 for a couple of weeks now on websites for which I have no alternative but to use IE. It is considerably faster than IE8. There have been no stability issues either.

So in this case I would rate it as a desirable upgrade if you need IE.

NB: I mostly use Chrome.
