Been playing a fair bit with resin over the years. I have some other pepper grinder blanks made from peppercorns and even coffee beans still waiting to be finished.
After seeing Cornucopia's post on his amalgam-mutt-boxs (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/amalgam-mutt-boxs-130627/), I decided to cast some burl caps into pepper grinder blanks (see here (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f204/taking-ww-casting-new-level-133065/#post1294285) for more blanks). This one is a Tasmanian Myrtle Burl with a mixture of blood red resin and red-russett Pearlex resin. It is finished with a few coats of Gelcoat Poly to help seal and hold it, then buffed with Hutt wax, and has a Crushgrind ceramic mill.
