Hi,

I took the kids camping on the weekend to Lane Cove national park in Sydney. I live half an hour further out of Sydney, but who needs a long drive to camp with the kids :2tsup:

For those living in or near Sydney, you might have noticed that Friday night/sat morning was a tad wet. Wettest April day in 10 years of something...

My tent survive ok, though it had a new lake next to it. We had a tarp up which even survived ok, but the amount of water flowing across the ground was incredible. Turned everything to mud.

I can cope with bad weather when camping, but with three little kids (the youngest only 8 months) it was a little trying...

Same bub after discovering that tarps don't have walls...

Fun trip, but couldn't face another night of it so we bailed and came home. First time I've ever piked out due to weather...

Will give it another go sometime soon though!

Cheers,
Dave

You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din! :U First time I went snow skiing, I camped out  :oo: In the morning I couldn't get the zippa on the front opening undone for ages and the fly sheet had frozen solid, the joys the joys :2tsup:

Onya Dave.

In time it'll appear as a rosy memory in your mind, and the kids will talk for years to come about messin about in mud.

Springwater ... yep. The condensation freezes the zipper overnight. Once I had to push the snow aside and 'swim' under the fly to get out for the morning's leak. That's almost (!) a rosy memory.

Ozkaban I don't blame you for packing up and going home. :) I've done my share of wet weather camping in a 12x8 canvas marquee until the tent got too old and leaked everywhere. Then I was not a happy camper.......
