Hi guys,

Need to reattach a table edge. It's a 12mm wide (1.6mm thick) aluminium edge to an MDF top.

Liquid nails (or similar) would do the job, but it's too thick and there will be a small gap.

So what glue would be thin and work with those materials?

Hi Scott, for benchtops/laminates contact cement is normally the way to go.

Checkout:

Selleys Gel Grip (http://www.selleys.com.au/adhesives/household-adhesive/contact-adhesive/gel-grip)

I am not recommending this particular glue, just recommending contact cement in general for your purpose.

good luck

Hey Scott,

My first questions would be, Why did it come off?? was it the original Glue letting go?, did it get knocked ?? did the MDF get moisture on it and breakdown?? are there any screws involved,??

Thanks guys.

No screws and no moisture.

It has been moved around a bit and knocked about.

It's probably been attached for about 12 years.

I'd scuff the glue face of the Al with maybe 400 grit to add a little fresh "tooth."
