Hi, I am looking for some small offcuts (8mm or thicker plate and 22mm or larger solid rod) of either 6061-T6 or 7075 (high tensile strength) aluminium to make a small internal combustion engine. I was hoping than someone may know of a supplier who will sell small amounts of these materials. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Regards Blu

Brand New Alum 25.4 dia x 250 mm ( 6061T6 )-Lathe-Mill-Model Weld-OG - - quicksales Item 11566396 (http://www.quicksales.com.au/buy/auction.aspx?itemid=11566396)

He has a bunch of other bits and pieces and should also have some 8mm plate.

For the plate you could also try a recycler, they are charging $4-5/kg now but 8mm plate may be hard to source and grade would most likely be unknown.

Hi Blu_rock,

I got some 6061 from Performance Metals Australia- Stocklist- 6061-T6 Plate (http://www.performancemetalsaustralia.com.au/stocklist/6061t6-plate)

But I see you only want a small piece, I could fish some out of the offcuts, if you want, but it would be 1/2" thick... sorry I don't have any rod in 6061

Regards
Ray

I am in the process of building the upshur ic engine(s) and was able to source all my needs from offcuts galore but I used oz-auctions as he has more there. :D His prices and postage times are excellent:2tsup:

Ray, thanks for the offer, much appreciated but I think I will get the small amounts I need from offcuts galore. I phoned performance metals but their minimum quantities were still quite a bit more than I need at the moment.

Thanks to everyone else who suggested suppliers.

Fxst, the Upshur engines look really sweet, I am thinking of the flat twin (picture below) as my second build but will be starting off with the Webster single, a really simple build.

I can highly recommend "offcuts galore " ,I deal with him on a regular basis and have been for quite along time ,I cannot fault his service.
