:D:D:D Hi All
Finished this bowl today it stands 80mm high with a to dia of 130
it is hollowed a wall thickness of around 10mm
The photos dont show very well that it is sanded to 600 and EEE finished with 3 coats of liquid shelawax
The few small faults were filled with malachite powder and CA
The colour is pretty close to the photos and is totaly natural

:D:D:D Can anyone pick the timber?????:D

A hint....... it is native to Sydney as well as many other places

Graham, it's a remarkable shape for a potpourri bowl, but after watching for a while not so bad. Don't know what kind of wood it is, but using this very nice looking wood make the difference.
Well made by a retired old friend :)

Nice turning and finishing!!:):):)

Not exactyl struck on the shape, but that's just my opinion.

Don't know what the timber is but it reminds me of Grey Mangrove.

S'pose it could be an Angophora, but the colour is wrong.

Hi Graham, that beautiful work, I like, the wood is a preciousness, it has very showy seams, but I do not know her, do not worry for the quality of the photos, the important thing the piece, congratulations are.:2tsup:

:rolleyes:You are almost spot on ..... it is an old piece of Mangrove that by the ring count is about 50-60 but it has been laying in the salt mud for I don't know how long , from the out side appearance many years
I know the the shape is a bit different but I was trying to show as much of the surface as I could. it is much more pleasing in the flesh than in the photos
