My first time turning a banksia pod, and wanted to do something a little different from the common weed pot, so decided on a goblet. Had originally intended making a pair, but I think I'll stick with one.

Redgum base and rim. Stands 140mm high, and 50mm wide.
Sanded to 600 and finished with traditional wax.
Chenille pipe cleaners to buff the wax from the holes.

Very ambitious for a first banksia nut but you've done a great job!

The redgum makes a nice contrast, and the finish is really well done - not easy on a banksia nut.

Neat idea and nicely finished :2tsup: Maybe that's how I can get rid of the bagful I've got hanging around here

Extraordinary work, can't wait to try my hand at turning banksia pods myself.
Keep the inspiration coming.

Thats awesome, and top finish too. I wonder if you could resin cast one to fill the voids, or turn one and wrap it externally then resin fill it then re turn it.
