I am in the process of purchasing a Festool ATF 55. My question is using the guide can I cut a piece of 2" material. I'm told with the guide you can cut @ 1/16". A Festool vendor told me no that I must jump to the 65. More money and 5lbs. heavier. Would appreciate someone who has cut 2" material. Will have furthe questions later before I purchase. I have the TS 55, which is the replacement for the ATF 55, and much improved too. Cast magnesium base, and much more. Check it out on www.festool.com.au, then hassle Festoo USA for one.

The 55 series saws will cut to 55 mm (2.165"), however, if you use the guide rail, you'll lose 6 mm, so max cut will then be 49 mm (1.929").
