Hi all, just wondering what everyone pays for the supa glue they buy, I have been buying 25ml bottles for $17.50 from local Blackwoods.
The stuff from Carbatec is a 56 gram bottle, Does anyone know what volume they are?

If net weight, doesn't that equate to around 50ml? (It'd be 56ml if pure water)

I'm buying from an ebay guy. The last lot was 1 x 50gm Super Thin + 2 x 50gm Medium. Total cost was $28.50 inclusive of postage.

It's no-name brand, but works well, and I have no issues with it.

$2.00 from the local 'Hot Dollar' shop for a 20ml bottle or $1.50 for a half dozen 5ml tubes.

Hi pjt,
I will only buy Loctite 401 S/Glue.
Bought 2 Bottles last week at Our Sun. Market for $25. I checked the date on the bottom, & they were both made in Mar. 2010. Yes 2010.
So I will have no problems with them.
1 I'm Using, & the other is in the Butter Compartment of the Fridge.
Some of the Pen Makers here around Geelong, will not use the $2 packets, as time goes on, the Pens part company.
There is another Brand, MEDIUM, & I know Aussie uses that a lot. The slightly thicker 1 was $8.50 for 25mm. I think.
I wasn't all that impressed with it, as I suppose I'm " dyed in the wool ", for Loctite.

Thanks everyone for comments, prices do seem to vary quite a bit, 10c/ml to 70c/ml and upwards, I went up to local hardware and bought no name 6x3ml botttles for $4.95, definately not the same stuff as the loctite from Blackwoods, also there was brand name stuff for like $2/ml....quality of product probably has a lot to do with it....

H Leffler and Son the leather merchant in West Melbourne sell Atom CA from Germany at a very reasonable price together with a pressure pack activator. Worth taking a look at.

My experience with Super Glue is that you get what you pay for. You can get the cheap stuff from China which is like 4 tubes for $2.00. But you may as well try to use water. It is rubbish.
In saying that, some super glue is really expensive and it is not worth it. From my experience with super glue, it is best to fine one with contains a small amount of rubber content. It makes the bonds less brittle and ultimately stronger. There are a few around and generally are reasonably priced.

here (http://woodenwonderstx.com/ZC_WoodenWonders/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1&zenid=1cceaa44088cfb2ecdee725536be52bf) is the cheapest buy for CA and other glues. I buy by the 16oz thin CA these days (almost 500mls) and a heap of bottles. Yes you have to pay the high import/postage costs, but still heaps cheaper when you are using as much as I do.

You can also go direct to the actual glue company and it is even cheaper, but you have to order more than $150 at a time and pay via your credit card.

PeteI've started using one from Gary Pye (his own badge on it) that's better value than the Carbatec and/or HotStuff and the cap stays clear easier too.
Not convinced there's much difference in quality in any of them really  - I use the thin one from Gary Pye for hardening of doughy bits of timber and consolidating filler but for small cracks I use the cheapy medium 'Cartell' branded tubes - 5 or 6 tubes for $2 and they are consistently full with a good cap.:2tsup:
