Trying to be a bit different

[Little Festo]

I've been working on a few new ideas, still developing them though. I've been working on a few carved Vase type forms.

The first one of course is one of my first attempts, not too sure about it (maybe a bit "clunky",but it sold quite quickly. Possibly not the best angle in the photo. The top is actually oval. Wood is Australian Red Cedar. Approx 380mm high.

The second I think I've developed the design a bit, a bit bigger, approx 380mm high, it sold quickly too.

The third piece is a fluted spalted Pecan bowl, approx 425mm in diameter.

The final piece is Silky Oak with a carved rim.

Not sure about trying - looks to me like you are succeeding in being different, I love the vases.

Also like the pecan bowl - reminds me a bit of those glass ashtrays common in the 60s and 70s
Not sure I like the lines of the silky oak bowl, might be the photo angle, but it doesn't seem to flow as I think you wanted.
wish I had the patience and skill to do this sort of work, nice

I'm using Livos/Kunos oil, expensive but a nice finish.

Remarkable work.
I just do the plain and simple and if I get something round I feel I am doing good.
