Cooktown Iron Wood.
Some time ago I asked questions about health hazards when turning Cooktown Iron Wood. After I installed a dust extraction system I have turned three blanks into some small bowl. I am rather pleased with the effort. The sizes are: bowl "1" is 230x40mm, bowl "2" is 210x40mm and bowl "3" is 140x40mm.

Lovely job!

CI is a bit of a pain with bluntening tools, but well worth it eh? :2tsup:

Many thanks for all your nice comments.
When I first started turning this wood I started sneezing a lot and I had not encountered this before with any other woods. Blackwood caused a lot of problems for many turners but I did not have any adverse effects turning it.

I like all three.
Cooktown Ironwood finishes well doesnt it, and yours look perfect.

Having turned a few Cooktown Ironwood bowls myself, I can appreciate the time and effort you have gone to. It's been a while but I can still remember the splinters and the blunt tools like it was yesterday.

They look pretty, aren't they?
The grain and the finishing are both nice.

I wonder why the Cooktown Iron Wood make you sneeze.
