Hi
Pardon me if this is tedious but,

Can some one please explain how to turn a handle that is both round and flat.Like this screwdriver for example. Or alternatively a jointer knife handle.

Is it that i simply turn the piece from a rectangular piece of wood leaving the flat bit just rounded off on the edges?

Thanks

Or if your flats don't come out quite right just press the handle up against a sanding disc then you would probably need to remount to just round off the edge between flat and round .

Or, if you have an indexing head, you can just turn a round handle and set up some jig to let you flatten the facets.

The simplest jig is just a board on each side of the piece (to use as depth guides) and a hand-plane.
