hi guys,
a spotted gum platter i made on the weekend
it started out with a foot but after a few cracks appearing
it ended up like this

You can not complain about that one. Nice bowl. Love it when cracks left and shown off.

Here is a tip you might like to try.

When I have fresh cracks in a piece like this I spray them black before sanding.

They then blend in with the other more natural looking gum veins.

the bowl/platter is 300mmx 50mm
Tim thanks a great idea will try that next time
i didn't realise when i started how many cracks were
in the blank,the bowl did have a foot untill this happened

Nice work

the bit of wood was just telling you that it didna want to be a bowl :p
