Hi,

I am working with green wood making several different products looking for a clear gloss that is heat and scratch resistant for chopping boards and coasters and place mats. I am in Australia and have found wood working very rewarding and a personal pleasure at the final product. Would really like to hear from someone that can help with this problem. Was using white knights two pack but find it a pain was looking for an easier solution. Have also come into some palm wood and would like to know the best way to use this product if there is any.

I find clear touch up paint you can buy at an auto parts store is pretty hard wearing, but for ultimate scratch resistance you're probably looking at a clear 2 part polyurethane resin I would think... HTH

In order of decreasing hardness - epoxy resin, 2-pack poly, acrylic lacquer.

There endeth the heat/scratch resistant list.

Everything else will be more on the convenience list rather than the functional list.

That said, U-Beaut's cross linking hard shellac might be good, but I haven't personally tried it. It could be the right compromise for you!

The methyl methacrylate resin used in fiberglass boats hulls, etc.
Where does that fit in the list?

Similar to polyester/polyurethane resin
