The turquoise in the Yew is stunning and I'm not normally a liver of plain Elm but the effect of that grain (it looks 'fuzzy') is great.

Wonderful set of Hollowforms.

Wow, the top one of those 3 looks like a fruit from the forest floor that has been gnawed at by the wildlife.

here is my photo set up
http://i690.photobucket.com/albums/vv262/a-cornucopia/P1100363.jpg

its a £20 graduated background from calumet photography supplies- i bulldog clip it to the side of the bed weigh the corners down with some paperweights and get down on the floor and take my photo's. there's a big bay window behind me- if theres too much light i draw the curtains a bit and if theres not enough i can manually adjust the iso setting. I use a panasonic DMC-FZ18 and prop it up on some books to steady it and get the right height for what i want to photograph. this setup doesnt work very well in full sun as it casts too many shadows but other than that it works o.k for most things.

Thanks for sharing! so simple and so effective. I will investigate the graduated background.
Well done.

Well I'll be bucketed :o That's just cheatin'! Here I've been mucking about with light tents and all sorts of junk to try and get the same effect and you manage it with a sheet of fancy cardboard :~ Gotta find some it over here now - like I need another project

Beautiful work on the forms by the way :2tsup: (as usual)

Good grief! That set up is so simple I could cry. I've been doing the same as you TTIT. You could actually take a picture on a white background and add a gradient background in photoshop to get the same effect.

Gee Bruce, you're all over this one! I was about to place an order online with them and they charge like a wounded bull for postage. Even if you pick it up, they charge $8.50 for picking it up!

None the less I'm heading over to Carlton this afternoon to pick one up.

Thanks for the info :)

Scott,
What can I say - I was bored :)
I had a look in the US and found some for about $36 which I was going to buy, went to checkout and added postage ....... only $268.00 ......very reasonable postage for a piece of paper :o:o:o
So I didn't baulk when these guys said $20 for a courier.

Scott

$236 is nothing!

Bruce, would you like me to pick one up for you this arvo and send via Aus Post?

-Scott.

If you have a spray rig of any sort on your workshop, have a go at making your own with a piece of art card & some grey paint.

Just to let everybody know, the graduated backgrounds bellyup (Bruce) has mentioned are not suitable for close-up photography. The colour is made up of a series of 3-5mm dots which will be show up on your images. I actually made the trip to Vanbar today and once I saw the backgrounds I realised they wouldn't cut the mustard. The Vanbar (http://www.vanbar.com.au/) guys were fantastic and went out of their way to assist me in finding elsewhere to no avail. Please do use them if you need anything photographic.

There's $50 down the gurgler - I had mine ordered before Bruce even posted :C:C Couldn't find anything else in the country so I thought I'd give it a shot  Might have to go with Cliff's idea
