Well it's only 10 days till the Timber & Working With Wood Show in Canberra and the enthusiasm and excitement shown by members for this show is absolutely overwhelming.

I certainly hope this level of enthusiasm doesn't overflow into the Show. I doubt we would be able to cope. :q (sarcasm)

Question....
Is anyone going to this show???
Have I missed the other thread(s) about the show, or is this it?

I know WOODCRAFT GUILD ACT is once again having their Exhibition, because we've donated well over a grands worth of prizes.

We (U-Beaut Polishes) will be there on Stand 70 with continuous, on demand and structured demonstrations for the entire 3 days.

Woodwork Forums will be manning Stand 69 opposite U-Beaut and all the usual suspects will be there as well... Carroll's Woodcraft Supplies, Trend Timbers, Carba-Tec etc, etc.

Looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces.

i have faxed off for tickets for both friday and saturday but if there are too many people going, i might just give it a miss as the venue (which has certainly been fine in previous years) wouldn't cope with too many people

I just read ACT club has reduced the size of their stand. I know some fellows are traveling down to ACT from western Sydney.

If it would stop raining....... Mal is getting his truck load ready, so there will be plenty of timber there.
He has had quite a few contacts re the show, so it looks OK from this end.

I'm not sure why you think there is no interest. Is there somewhere that we should have registered?

I'm not sure why you think there is no interest. Is there somewhere that we should have registered?Possibly because of the interest shown in this thread http://www.woodworkforums.com/f12/canberra-forum-stand-any-interest-137756/

Nope you don't have to register but you might want to look at special offers for Forum members.

Probably because most shows there's at least 2 or 3 threads running about the shows for a month or more before the event, talking about it and setting up times and places to meet others and just good old general excitement.

Haven't seen anything at all for Canberra other than this and the rather underwhelming Forum Stand thread which has recovered slightly with help from Melbourne.

I was going to avoid public dribbling with excitement but since there seems to be some worries that nobody will come to the party then I'll fess up. I'll be there Friday morning looking for advice on stripping lead paint off 100 year old tassie oak floorboards we salvaged, looking for advice on how to best make and finish solid WRC internal doors for a new house and looking to be seduced into buying a few tools. Have sent info on the show to a few friends. Weather looking good. In a world that's gone a bit crazy, any "back to basics" trends like working with timber, growing vegies and brewing beer are honourable and popular pursuits.
