Has anyone tried Soy wax for sealing green timber ?
How does it compare with Paraffin Wax ?

Opinions & advice welcome.

Cheers

Haven't used it myself, but it is cheaper than para wax and more eco-friendly.

I understand that it can start to melt at about 48 deg C, which is reached in many sheds during summer. That might be an issue.

It probably tastes better on Chinese Food. :D
Interesting question, if it seals the end grain effectively I then might be asking myself how it compares in price and durability.
Melting points and or solvents & cleanup would probably come into question as well.
I've used old latex enamel and heard of someone who used pvc glue.
Nasty stuff but effective.
I know paraffin has been used for sealing home canned food for decades
but if I was prepping bowl blanks for use with food I might lean to the soy based product.
Neil was just a little faster on the reply.
Let us know how it goes if you try it.
