I am on a week of leave so have finished the bowl I started at Willy's (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/bowl-willys-140199/) and made other two as well.
The one from Willy's is a Jarrah burl with a textured rim. The rim was textured with a Sorby texturing tool which is now on my wish list of tools to get:wink:
The Qld Maple one is from a blank I picked up from Mapleman at last years Sydney show.
The one with a blue rim is a piece of Camphor. I have a few plain pieces of wood and have been playing with the idea of an inlayed rim for a while. I cut a rebate about 3mm deep and put the blue glitter in the rebate and set with thin CA. Left it overnight and then sanded down the next morning. I expected to have a few problems with it but happy to say it turned out better than I had hoped:D.
Finish on all bowls is Kunos Oil. Was good to get back in the shed again and hopefully I can work through a few more in the next few weeks:2tsup:
