Hi

Have ventured into civilisation today - Toowoomba and went to Toowoomba Woodworkers and bought some new chisels. 1 Hamlet 19mm bowl gouge and 1 Hamlet 1 1/4 roughing gouge. Big difference from what I have been working with. Also bought some finishes - Shellawax type stuff. Now to find out what the tradeoff with SWMBO - 2 days in Brisbane CBD whilst I am in meetings. Fair tradeoff I think

Don't put the roughing gouge anywhere near a bowl.

do you have the right grinding wheel on your bench grinder??:?:?:?

Should be a white colour, and 80 or 100 Grit.

DO NOT USE THE STANDARD GREY WHEELS:oo::oo:, they are too coarse, and they grind too hot . the WHITE WHEELS although they are still ALUMINUM OXIDE , have a different crystal structure and grind much cooler ( you can still over heat ), also the grey wheels gouge as they cut/grind.

The WHITE Wheels due to the different crystal/grain structure, has a shearing cut,
