Just a quick question or two regarding WA Blackbutt (Eucalyptus Patens).
Is this wood any good for turning shallow bowls and platters and secondly can it be incorporated into segmented turnings successfully?

Many thanks in advance!

No Mate! It is bloody dangerous! Send it to me and I shall despatch it forthwith for you!!!!!!!!!!

WA Blackbutt is tough. It is very hard and looks superb, turns well. It should make loverly platters and shallow bowls. Don't do segmented (not skilled enough), so will not comment.

Good luck

Hey Stephen,

I'm with Willy, turns really well and looks good, I wouldn't bother segmenting it, unless you needed to jazz up something not so nice.

I agree with all the above.

I have used some curly Blackbutt, it's great.
