Check Brian's site One Good Turn (http://www.onegoodturn.ca)
Saw Brian at Turnfest a few years ago and was quite impressed with his demo with a huge turning bar. I even got one of his painted thin wall vases that I was supposed to finish off but my missus liked it as is.
He will be at Turnfest 2012

The 3 finished articles are completely covered in acrylic paint. No grain or anything to show that they are made of wood. So he could have made them out of plastic for all that it matters.

Fantastic turning but totally wasted!

These are 2 that he did at Turnfest Australia. One is a finished vase and the other is unfinished which I got. They clearly show a fair bit of natural wood.
