Can you thin CA glue??

I ran out of my bottle of thin CA glue so I added some acetone to a bottle of the thick stuff. I tested it on a couple of popsicle sticks and when I broke them apart they took pieces of wood with them. Is this okay or am I diluting the holding porperties of the glue??

Others have done it & it has worked.

OK you use to thin good glue but it won't fix stuff that has started to go thick on the shelf.
