View Full Version : Oak platter with inlay work

I finished an oak platter with floral leaf pattern inlay work, it was a puzzle, and found some problems to get a seamless inlay.
For 90 percent it's fairly successful, so for the first time not so bad.
Was a good tried out for a next similar platter.
The dimensions: 310 in diameter with a height of 25 mm. Finished as usual with transparent acrylic stain
Comments good or bad are always welcome
Cheers, Ad

Very Nice Ad, is the inlay work all in Oak as well or other wood/materials?

Thank you dragonfly, I forgot this in the description, but the inlay work is a combination of two woodspecies, namely oak and rubberwood (the light colored wood)

hi ad,
nice work on the platter, looks really well done
is the inlay just on the top? i would have thought it would go
through to the under side of the platter as well? but then i
have never tried anything like that
again great job i like it :2tsup::2tsup:

Hi smiife, I work from designs for getting the idea clear in my head.
The attached design gives you the insight of the planned inlay work.
Thanks, Ad

Ray, this platter is not longer mine, gave it away to the parents of my son-in-law Remco, now it's 110km away from my home
