I just inherited a used Woodfast MC908 lathe from my grandfather. I got it home and realized that the power plug does not fit my electrical outlets. Now, I do not know ANYTHING about electricity so I need some help. I'm assuming this is a 220v plug and my outlets are 120v. Is it possible that with this lathe I could wire it to run on 120v?

In this user manual it says: Motor (1ph. or 3ph.) General use .55kW
Heavy work .75kW

what does that even mean???

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Chris

What he said (and said very well, I might add).

If you have an electric clothes dryer, it MIGHT be connected to a 220v outlet, but would probably be in the wrong location for your shop anyway.

Do it right - hire an electrician.
