I have a Woodfast and would recommend it, great little lathe with easy belt change, plus standard 30x3.5 headstock thread.

But for what looks like a good little cheap lathe, this one (http://www.popsshed.com.au/Product_Main.aspx?cid=8&scid=56&pid=23) is a beaut, and with variable speed.

Cheers

I have that one and it's a little beauty, gets a fair work out and no complaints. Further if you're a member of a wood turning club he'll give a discount as well, which may cover the cost of the freight.
