Ciao,
Here some pics of a smoother I built recently.
Woods are ash for the main body and wenge for sole and wedge. I used an old (new) iron by Irsch (2 1/8"). It is bedded at 60° for the purpose of planing harder and figured woods. The plane body stock has been obtained by vertical union of three pieces of ash about 2 1/4" thick.

Unfortunately I did not take photos during plane construction, so I will post there only some pics of finished plane.

A very nice job on the plane and by the look if the last pic it works well also.
I quite like the old design of smoother. I got an old Matheson wood smoother same shape as that for the grand sum of $5.00. All I did was clean and sharpen it and it is so nice to use.
That should last a few life few lifetimes with the hard sole.

John

Hi Giuliano. A very nice smothing plane you have built. They are much better to use compared to the steel bodied versions. If you really wish to challenge yourself try and make another woody using a single piece of timber. :2tsup:

Welcome to the forum.

Ciao. Stewie.
